Orthodontics is the area of dentistry specialising in the straightening of teeth and correction of jaw misalignment.
It is fairly common for people to have crooked teeth, or too many teeth so that their mouth is overcrowded. This can of course affect appearance, but it may also have a detrimental effect on your bite and the alignment of your jaws, which may be causing headaches. Crooked teeth can also affect your oral health as they can be difficult to clean.
Having orthodontic treatment to straighten or move your teeth into a better position can make a massive difference to your smile, your confidence and to your health. Treatment can take place at any time, whether you are a child or an adult.
These days there are many different treatment options available including Invisalign “The clear alternative to braces”. These are virtually invisible, transparent aligners which are removed for cleaning and for eating, and are particularly suitable for those who in regularly in the public eye or who are image conscious. Our practice principal, Syed Askari is a Registered and Fully Trained for the provision of Invisalign treatments. Syed has completed his full Invisalign training, including the Master Class in January, 2015. Also Invisalign Logo and promo pic
At The Academy Dental Practice in Inverness we are fortunate that our dentist Mrs Bea Wallace has a great interest in this field, having served as a clinical assistant in the Orthodontic department of Raigmore Hospital.
We also have a good relationship with the Orthodontic Clinic at Raigmore hospital and the specialist Orthodontic Chris Buchanan, who practices on Kenneth Street in Inverness. We routinely refer patients to both clinics.
